You have roughly 40k worth of work done, on top of the value of the car, and not including the labor. I don't think the customer should expect more then $20- 25k. And that's if it's dead mint and very functional.That being said, it's pretty clear by your question here that he did not have insurance coverage for all that other stuff. Therefore, he was probably paying premiums for a car that the insurance company valued at $3k or $4k. Now, if he convinces the insurance company to pay more, that's insurance fraud. If the insurance does pay him the $3k or $4k he's owed, it's pretty certain that the insurance company will come after you for the $3k or $4k. That's probably all you're looking at, unless you have your own shop insurance. Bummer. I bet this could get very messy. Oh, IMHO (c)(t)(r)2011
